Gold Hands offers kitchen remodeling in North Miami, FL: cabinet installation or refacing, countertop coordination and install, backsplash tile, sink and faucet, appliances, lighting, paint and flooring. Every kitchen is priced per project. Send photos and rough measurements by phone or WhatsApp and we return a free estimate; any work that needs a permit in Miami-Dade County goes through our general contractor partner.

Most North Miami kitchens we see were built to the standard of their time: oak or thermofoil cabinets, a drop-in sink, a single ceiling fixture and laminate or tile counters with dark grout lines. Owners usually want more storage, a counter that cleans easily, better light over the work area and a backsplash that does not trap grease. The plan depends on whether the cabinet boxes are sound enough to reface or need to go.

Send us what you have, even if it is not perfect. A short video walking around the kitchen works as well as photos. Add the model of any appliance you plan to reuse, the counter material you are considering, and anything you already bought. Text or WhatsApp (786) 788-8714; our Spanish-speaking staff can take the call. You get a free estimate, priced per project, before anyone touches a cabinet.

Older North Miami homes: kitchens with history

North Miami is a settled, mostly single-family area with much of its housing from the 1940s and 1950s — terrazzo-floored ranch homes on gridded streets — plus Biscayne Park's large wooded lots and waterfront Keystone Point.

A mid-century North Miami kitchen often has character worth keeping: a picture window, solid wood trim, a built-in hutch. Remodeling does not have to erase it. We can keep the window and trim, choose new cabinets that suit the period, and put modern counters and lighting around them. Owners who want a fully contemporary kitchen can have that too; the point is to decide deliberately rather than by default.

Older houses also bring hidden work. Existing circuits may not support a modern range, dishwasher and microwave on separate lines, and older plumbing may be undersized. When the plan needs new circuits or relocated lines, our general contractor partner pulls the permit with the City of North Miami building department (or the Village of Biscayne Park for addresses there) and that work is inspected before walls close. We show those items separately in the estimate so you can see what the house requires.

Coastal kitchens in North Miami: salt air and humidity

Choosing materials for a coastal kitchen in North Miami comes down to what tolerates moisture. Plywood boxes resist swelling better than particleboard; quartz and properly sealed granite resist staining; porcelain backsplash tile is easier to keep clean than natural stone. Stainless fixtures rated for outdoor or marine use cost more but last. We talk through these trade-offs before the estimate, not after the order.

Older coastal condos and houses can also have corroded supply valves and drain lines under the sink. When the old cabinet comes out, we check the shutoffs and connections and recommend replacing any that are seized or weeping before the new cabinet goes in. Small items like that are easier to handle while the kitchen is open, and they keep a slow leak from ruining new cabinets.

From photos to a finished kitchen in North Miami

  1. Start with a message to (786) 788-8714. Photos from each corner of the kitchen and a few tape measurements are enough for a free estimate, priced per project rather than from a menu.
  2. Once you approve, you get a written scope and timeline: which cabinets and counters, who orders what, which days the kitchen is out of service, and when the stone shop comes to template.
  3. If the design moves plumbing, adds circuits or opens a wall, that part is permitted work pulled by our general contractor partner with the City of North Miami building department (or the Village of Biscayne Park for addresses there). We tell you which items need it before you sign.
  4. Work proceeds in a set order: protect and demolish, install cabinets, template and install countertops, set the sink and backsplash, connect appliances and lighting, then paint and trim. You get updates by text in English or Spanish.
  5. We walk the finished kitchen with you, fix anything on the punch list, clean up and send a photo report. If something does not work right later, you call us and we come back to look.

Kitchen remodel timing: short jobs and long ones

Hurricane season, June 1 to November 30, can stretch a kitchen schedule. Shipping delays affect cabinets and stone, and when a storm approaches we stop, secure the site and pick up again after it passes. Planning a larger remodel outside the most active part of the season, or ordering materials early, reduces that risk. We always tell you when a date shifts and why.

Kitchen Remodeling in North Miami — questions we get asked

Which kitchen materials hold up near the ocean?

Plywood cabinet boxes, stainless or solid brass hardware, quartz or sealed granite counters and porcelain backsplash tile tolerate humidity and salt air better than particleboard, plated hardware and porous stone. Fixtures rated for outdoor or marine use resist pitting. We point out where a cheaper option is likely to corrode or swell near the coast, so you can choose with that in mind.

What if you find old plumbing or wiring behind my kitchen walls?

In older homes it is common to find galvanized supply lines, cast-iron drains or wiring that does not support modern appliances. When the cabinets come out, we show you what we found with photos and explain the options before anything changes. Replacing those lines is permitted work handled by our general contractor partner with the City of North Miami building department (or the Village of Biscayne Park for addresses there), quoted separately so you can decide.

Who buys the cabinets, counters and appliances?

Either way works. We can order cabinets and coordinate the stone shop for you, or you can buy items yourself and we install them. If you buy, send us the specs or model numbers before you order so we can check fit, clearances and hookups. Appliances you already own can be reinstalled if they fit the new layout. The estimate shows who supplies what.

Do I need a permit to remodel my kitchen?

Moving the sink, adding circuits, changing gas lines or removing walls requires a building permit, and that work is pulled by our general contractor partner with the City of North Miami building department (or the Village of Biscayne Park for addresses there). Swapping cabinets, counters and backsplash in the same layout is mostly finish work, and we confirm whether your municipality asks for anything on it. You know which parts need a permit before you approve the estimate.

How do you estimate a kitchen remodel without coming to the house?

You send photos of each wall, the inside of the sink cabinet and the floor, plus counter lengths and ceiling height, by text or WhatsApp to (786) 788-8714. That is enough to price most kitchens. The estimate is free and priced per project. If something can only be judged in person, we tell you and can arrange a paid site visit.
