Furniture assembly in North Miami is $129 for a simple item, $169 for a medium one such as a desk, dresser or dining table, and $219 for a complex build like a wardrobe, bed frame or entertainment center, with 10% off three pieces or more. Rental turnovers and student lets around the FIU Biscayne Bay campus usually cross that three-piece line, so most of what we quote in 33161 and 33181 is a discounted list rather than a single item.

We cover both North Miami ZIPs: 33161, centred on the City of North Miami and reaching toward Miami Shores, Biscayne Park and Golden Glades, and 33181, which takes in the Village of Biscayne Park, eastern North Miami and the waterfront Keystone Point community. Prices are the same across both — $129 simple, $169 medium, $219 complex, 10% off three pieces or more, or an $80 service call, then $80/hr with a two-hour minimum. Call or text (786) 788-8714 with the model names or a photo of the cartons.

This is settled, mostly single-family northeast Miami-Dade: terrazzo-floored ranch houses from the 1940s and 1950s, some with clean mid-century modern lines, on gridded streets under mature yards, with small apartment buildings and condos filling in along the main corridors and near Florida International University's Biscayne Bay campus. Gold Hands is insured. If any part of a job legally requires a licensed trade, it goes to a licensed pro rather than being handled by us.

Terrazzo floors and block walls change how we assemble in North Miami

The 1940s and 1950s houses that dominate 33161 were built with poured terrazzo floors, and terrazzo is the single most quietly expensive surface in a furniture assembly job. It is hard, it is polished, and it chips and scratches from exactly the thing flat-pack assembly encourages: sliding a heavy half-built carcass across the room to get at the back panel. We work on protection, lift instead of drag, and put the feet or glides on before a piece is stood up rather than after. On original terrazzo a single gouge does not sand out the way a scratch in laminate does.

The walls are concrete block, so wall fixings are masonry work here. Anti-tip brackets for tall dressers and wardrobes, floating shelf units, wall-hung headboards and bracketed bookcases all ship with hardware for stud framing, and in a North Miami block house that hardware is close to useless. We bring a hammer drill and masonry anchors as standard. Older houses of this vintage have also been added onto over the decades, so an interior wall in one room can be block and the wall in the extension next door can be light framing — we check what we are drilling into before we drill it, not after.

Biscayne Park, Keystone Point and the eastern half of North Miami

The 33181 side is a different neighborhood entirely. Biscayne Park is a small incorporated village founded in 1931, with single-family homes on larger lots under a heavy mature tree canopy, and long approach paths from the street to the door — worth mentioning when you book, because a boxed dining table crosses that distance whether or not anyone budgeted for it. Keystone Point is a gated waterfront community of mid-century and updated single-family homes, where gate access has to be arranged in advance the way it does in any guarded community.

Being near the water brings salt into the picture too. In the waterfront pockets of Keystone Point, exposed metal corrodes noticeably faster than it does a few streets inland, so furniture living on a dock-side patio or in a room left open to the bay wants coastal-rated fixings rather than the plated screws that came in the flat-pack bag. Outdoor and patio assembly is regular work here for that reason, and it is the one category where the supplied hardware is most often not the hardware that should end up in the finished piece. Biscayne Park brings a quieter version of the same theme: mature oaks and a heavy canopy mean shaded, damp patios where an outdoor table left standing on plated bolts will loosen within a couple of rainy seasons.

Rental turnovers and student housing drive a lot of North Miami work

A meaningful share of 33161 is rental property — duplexes, small apartment buildings and single-family houses let out — and turnover work runs to a calendar. A unit empties, a move-in date is fixed, and a bed frame, a dresser, a desk and a table have to exist by then. Those are four pieces, so 10% comes off the total, and it is one visit rather than four. We build, we photograph the finished rooms if the owner is not local, and we take the flattened cardboard away so the unit shows clean instead of showing with a stack of boxes in the living room.

The Florida International University Biscayne Bay campus adds a seasonal rhythm to the eastern side of the area: student lets furnished to a fixed date, usually inexpensive flat-pack in quantity, usually all at once and all in the same week of the calendar. Beyond that it is ordinary households in the same mid-century houses, re-furnishing room by room as families change, plus the small businesses along Biscayne Boulevard and 125th Street, which use us for shelving, display units and office furniture, generally scheduled before opening. Send the list and the deadline to (786) 788-8714 and we will say plainly whether it fits — if a move-in date is too tight for the number of pieces on it, that is worth hearing early.

Neighborhoods and ZIP codes we cover in North Miami

Furniture Assembly in North Miami — questions we get asked

How much does furniture assembly cost in North Miami?

$129 for a simple item such as a bookshelf, side table or TV stand; $169 for a desk, dresser or dining table; $219 for a wardrobe, bed frame or entertainment center. Three or more pieces takes 10% off the total, which covers most turnover and whole-room jobs here. If you would rather buy time than items, it is $80/hr with a two-hour minimum. The quote comes before the visit, not after it.

Can I trust the person coming into my North Miami home?

Gold Hands is insured and the crews are our own. Plenty of our 33161 work is for landlords who are not present while we are in the unit, so we operate the way that requires: a named person before the visit, photographs of the finished work, an itemised invoice, and an honest report if a carton was short of hardware or a panel arrived damaged. Nothing gets forced together to avoid an awkward phone call.

My building or association in North Miami needs a certificate of insurance — can you provide one?

Yes. Most of North Miami is single-family houses where nobody asks, but the condo and apartment buildings along the corridors do, and so does the guard gate at Keystone Point in 33181. Send us the management or gate contact when you book and the certificate goes over ahead of the visit at no charge, with the visit scheduled inside whatever access hours apply.

Will you scratch my terrazzo floor assembling furniture?

It is the right thing to worry about in a 1950s North Miami house, and it is why we do not assemble the way a fast job would. Protection goes down before anything comes into the room, heavy carcasses get lifted rather than slid, feet and glides go on before the piece is stood upright, and we build in the room the furniture is staying in so nothing has to be dragged from one room to another. Terrazzo chips do not buff out, so we treat the floor as part of the job.

How long does furniture assembly take?

A simple item like a bookshelf takes 30-45 minutes. A full bedroom set — bed, dresser, nightstands — typically takes 2-3 hours. We give you a time estimate when you book.

Do I need to unbox the furniture first?

No. We handle everything from unboxing to assembly to cleanup. Just show us where you want it placed.

Can you assemble furniture I bought from any store?

Yes. If it comes in a box with instructions, we can build it — regardless of brand or where you bought it.

What if parts are missing from the kit?

We identify the missing part and help you contact the manufacturer for a replacement. For common hardware, we often carry a spare in the truck.
