IKEA furniture assembly in Miami is $129 for a simple item like a bookshelf, side table or TV stand, $169 for a desk, dresser or dining table, and $219 for a wardrobe, bed frame or entertainment center, with 10% off the total on three or more pieces. We assemble in the room the furniture is going to live in and take the flattened cardboard with us when we leave.

The boxes are already in your hallway, against the living room wall, or stacked where the delivery driver left them. Gold Hands comes to the unit, builds the pieces where they are meant to stand, and removes the packaging. Pricing is per item — $129 simple, $169 medium, $219 complex, 10% off the total at three or more pieces — or an $80 service call, then $80/hr with a two-hour minimum if you have a mixed pile of small things and would rather pay for time. Call or text (786) 788-8714 with a photo of the boxes and we can tell you which one applies.

Furniture assembly is the biggest single service line we run — mostly beds and bed frames, then desks, dressers, patio furniture, office furniture and cribs. We are insured, which matters in Miami buildings that will not let a vendor upstairs without a certificate on file. Gold Hands is an independent assembly service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by IKEA.

Getting flat-pack boxes into a Miami condo

Most of this work happens in condos, and the furniture is rarely the hard part. Flat-pack boxes for a wardrobe or a king bed frame are long, heavy and awkward on a stair landing, so they go up in the freight elevator — which in most buildings here means a reserved time window, a loading dock slot, and a vendor certificate of insurance on file with management before anyone works on site. Plenty of associations only allow that on weekdays, which is why a Saturday delivery often sits in the lobby until Monday.

Tell us your building when you book and we work to its rules rather than around them: we send our insurance certificate to management ahead of the appointment and take whatever elevator window they give us. We are insured. If part of the job legally needs a licensed trade — new wiring behind a media wall, for instance — that piece is handed to a licensed pro rather than done by us.

Built in the room, because it will not fit through the door afterwards

A PAX wardrobe or a large bed frame assembled in the living room does not come back apart to get down the hallway. In a tight Miami bedroom it has to be built in place, in the footprint where it stands, with enough working clearance left to square the frame and get the back panel tight against the wall. That is a different job from assembling the same box in an empty suburban garage, and it is the one we do most.

Beds and bed frames come up more often than anything else. Desks (26), dressers (17), patio furniture (17), office furniture (13) and cribs (9) follow. Tall units get anchored to the wall as part of the build — in a condo with a toddler or a rental with turnover, that is not optional.

Delivery drops the boxes. That is where it stops.

IKEA delivery leaves boxes at your door or in the lobby: not assembled, not in the right room, not unpacked. The store itself sits at 1801 NW 117th Ave in Sweetwater, just off the Florida Turnpike near Dolphin Mall, and it is the largest IKEA in Florida — 33172, covering Doral and Fontainebleau, is one of our regular coverage ZIPs right next to it. Downtown, Brickell, Edgewater, Miami Beach, North Beach and Sunny Isles are the rest.

For owners furnishing a rental or a seasonal unit from out of town, the gap is the whole problem: someone has to be at the unit when the boxes land, put the furniture together, and get the packaging out. Cardboard is its own headache in a building with a small trash room, so we flatten it and take it out rather than leaving your chute room full of wardrobe boxes.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to assemble IKEA furniture in Miami?

$129 per simple item (bookshelf, side table, TV stand), $169 per medium item (desk, dresser, dining table), and $219 per complex item (wardrobe, bed frame, entertainment center). Three or more pieces takes 10% off the total. For a mixed pile of smaller items we can work hourly instead at $80/hr with a two-hour minimum. Call or text (786) 788-8714.

Are you IKEA's assembly service?

No. Gold Hands is an independent Miami handyman company. We assemble furniture bought from IKEA and from other retailers, but we do not work for IKEA, are not endorsed by IKEA and have no partnership with them. IKEA is a registered trademark of Inter IKEA Systems B.V.

Do you take the boxes and packaging away?

Yes. We flatten the cardboard and remove it when we leave. In a condo this is the part people ask about most — two or three wardrobe boxes will fill a small trash room on their own, and many buildings will not take them unbroken.

My building needs a certificate of insurance before a vendor can work here. Can you send one?

Yes. We are insured, and we send our certificate to your building or property manager ahead of the appointment. Give us the management contact and the elevator window when you book so the paperwork is in place before we arrive with the tools.

How long does furniture assembly take?

A simple item like a bookshelf takes 30-45 minutes. A full bedroom set — bed, dresser, nightstands — typically takes 2-3 hours. We give you a time estimate when you book.

Do I need to unbox the furniture first?

No. We handle everything from unboxing to assembly to cleanup. Just show us where you want it placed.

Can you assemble furniture I bought from any store?

Yes. If it comes in a box with instructions, we can build it — regardless of brand or where you bought it.

What if parts are missing from the kit?

We identify the missing part and help you contact the manufacturer for a replacement. For common hardware, we often carry a spare in the truck.
